Dear Friends of Windover Hills UMC,
For the past 13 years, it's been my pleasure to serve as Pastor of this wonderful church. My family and I have been blessed by your love, care, and support.
That being said, one of the facts of United Methodism, and one of the ordination vows I took when I was ordained in the United Methodist Church, is that pastors serve one year at a time as appointed by the Resident Bishop and the Cabinet of Western Pennsylvania. As such, we yearly review the call of God for pastors and churches alike. This year, I sensed God leading me to a change in appointment, and requested the Bishop and Cabinet consider me for a move to another church.
Recently, I received a call from the Reverend Don Scandrol, our District Superintendent. He informed me that they had what they believed was a match for my ministry and calling. Following an interview with the church, I accepted the call to become the Pastor of Trinity Tower UMC in Penn Hills, PA, effective July 1, 2008.
This means that Windover Hills United Methodist Church will be in transition for the next few weeks. I ask for your prayers for the process which involves calling a new pastor to serve as your Pastor beginning July 1, 2008. The Pastor-Staff Parish Relations Committee of our church will be meeting with Rev. Scandrol to discuss the position and interview the new pastor in the next few weeks.
Let me close this letter by noting that God has blessed us here at Windover Hills. I believe what we've accomplished over the last 13 years has laid the foundation for a promising future. God's blessing will continue to be with this church as each of us lives for Jesus as His called disciples.
In His Name and by His love,
Pastor Dale Reese
