We are a family-oriented United Methodist Church in South Park, Pennsylvania.
We have programs for all ages and attitudes.
There is always something going on at Windover Hills.
Most importantly, our staff and members are devoted to helping one another
develop a deeper commitment to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
We will strive to follow Jesus Christ by being a loving, welcoming, and growing community.

You are invited to attend the Adult Sunday School Class as
we study Christian beliefs by comparing Christian
denominations and their faith traditions. The denominations
to be studied are: Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Lutheranism,
Presbyterianism, Anglicanism, Baptists, Pentecostalism and
Methodism. The study will consist of a video presentation
followed by discussion. The videos will present a brief
history, outline major beliefs, and describe some things we
can learn from those traditions that can strengthen our own
Christian faith. The class meets at 9:45 am each Sunday
in the Fellowship Hall classroom. First class is September 12.
The youth of the church are invited to come slam some things
at our Sledge-o-Matic event. We will gather at the church at
6:30 pm on Sunday, September 12. The youth are encouraged
to wear old clothes, bring a friend, and come with an
attitude for fun. This is going to be an amazing time of
smashing things and hearing about the love of God. If
parents have questions about the event, please contact
Pastor Jude, Jodi Hyrb, Vicki Jones, or Beth Cafaro. Adult
volunteers are always welcome. The following week will be
our first normal youth meeting. Both the Jr. and Sr. High
youth will gather at 6:30 pm. Vicki and Pastor Jude will have
the Sr. High, and Jodi and Beth will have the Jr. High.
Youth meetings end at 8 pm.
Women's FORUM, which stands for Fellowship,
Outreach, Recreation, Understanding, and Ministry, is a
group open to all the women of WHUMC and their friends. We'd
love to have you attend our monthly meetings or any of our
activities. We're looking forward to another great year!
On September 9, we will meet at the church at 1 pm to put
labels on water bottles which will be distributed at the
9/11 service at Sunny Slopes. We will help with the
distribution.
On September 14 we will assemble at the church
at 6 pm for our fall "Walk in the Park". We walk along
Corrigan Drive and then return to the church for a time of
fellowship and ice cream.
Some of our other activities
include trimming the church Christmas tree, conducting a CPR
training class, making blankets for a women's shelter,
collecting baby items for needy women and their babies, and
hosting our annual women's brunch. We are open to fresh new
ideas, so come and join us!
Fundraisers:
In order to fund our outreach projects.
we are once again selling the large wall calendars and
pocket calendars which were so popular last year. Wall

the Christmas holidays, we will be selling Joyce's Copper
Kettle fudge at $7 a pound. Look for order forms in
October's "Out of the Winds".
You are invited to a place designed specifically for you, a mother of

Do you remember those days when you were a college student
and you got a package from home? Or do you remember when
your son or daughter went away to college and you worried
that no one, other than you, really cared about them? We
have a number of young people and their parents who are now
in that situation. Can you help us out? Our church is
looking for committed people who will pray for the students
and keep in touch with them with notes, cards, and an
occasional package. Contact Vivian Gyorke at 412-655-0847,
or email dougandviv@verizon.net.

On Saturday October 2, a planning and
goalsetting meeting will be held for all church leaders and other
concerned members of the church. We will begin at 9 am
in Fellowship Hall and should conclude by 2 pm. The
purpose of this meeting is to see where we have been as a
church community and to look forward to where God is leading
us now. We will evaluate the goals previously set for the
congregation and discern a new set of goals for the next three
years. If you have any questions about this
event or would like to attend, please contact Dave Haines or
call the church office, 412-655-4824. Click
here for a listing of the positions
on the church's various boards, councils and committees.
During the two morning services we will honor and pray for
our charter members and 40-year members. At 5 pm we
will gather again for a time of worship as one congregation.
This will be followed by a fellowship meal at 6 pm.
After the meal there will be some games for the kids, and
the evening will conclude with a bonfire and hymn sing. The
parsonage will also be open after the fellowship meal for
anyone who would like to come and take a tour of the house.
The trustees have done a wonderful renovation job over the
past few years, and this will be your chance to come and see
what they have done. Please put this date on your calendar,
bring the family, and come enjoy some fellowship with your
brothers and sisters in Christ.
This year our annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held on
Saturday, November 13, from 4-7:30 pm. Please start
